Brian Hofland, PhD, is President of Research to Prevent Blindness (RPB), whose mission is to support and advance research to develop treatments, preventives, and cures for all conditions that damage and destroy sight. RPB also seeks to strengthen and advance a dynamic vision science research community.
Brian began at RPB in 2013 and works closely with its Board of Trustees. He spearheads strategic planning efforts to more sharply define mission and develop strategies to maximize the foundation’s impact, including development of strategic collaborations across the vision field. He currently serves on the Board of the Alliance for Vision Research.
Previously, Brian held senior leadership positions with the National Council on Aging; AARP Foundation; The Atlantic Philanthropies; and The Retirement Research Foundation. Brian was Founding Board Chair of the foundation affinity group, Grantmakers in Aging. He holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an MS and PhD in Health and Human Development from the Pennsylvania State University.
