Dan Ignaszewski is a seasoned executive leader and the Executive Director of the Alliance for Eye and Vision Research (AEVR) and the National Alliance for Eye and Vision Research (NAEVR). With extensive expertise in public policy, government relations, strategic planning, and non-profit management, Dan has driven significant advancements in eye and vision research advocacy. His work has spanned public relations, fundraising, and the development of key partnerships, all of which have led to expanded resources for critical programs and fostered meaningful collaborations with policy makers, state and federal agencies, patient advocacy groups, and industry stakeholders. His leadership has facilitated the passage of essential state insurance legislation and strengthened advocacy efforts that support vision research funding and U.S.
Prior to his current roles, Dan served as the Chief Policy and Programs Officer at the Amputee Coalition, where he oversaw public policy initiatives and programs, advocating for the needs of the limb loss and limb difference community. In this capacity, he led legislative and regulatory efforts, developed comprehensive educational programs, and strengthened alliances with healthcare providers, nonprofit organizations, and government agencies. His leadership ensured increased awareness, support, and resources for individuals living with limb loss, creating long-lasting impact on public health policy and patient outcomes.

Through comprehensive event coordination, impactful messaging, and innovative digital marketing, she drives awareness and support for policies and programs that advance eye and vision research for the benefit of millions. Judy oversees the planning and execution of high-profile events, including congressional briefings, advocacy days, and educational programs that connect early-career scientists, policymakers, and the public. In addition, she collaborates with stakeholders across academia, industry, and patient advocacy to ensure our voice remains at the forefront of critical conversations about funding and policy priorities. She is particularly passionate about translating the urgency of vision research into compelling narratives that resonate with diverse audiences. From crafting strategic communications to managing digital campaigns, she focuses on elevating the message that eye health is foundational to quality of life, productivity, and independence.
Before joining the organization, Judy played a pivotal role in developing and executing strategic communications initiatives for a global network of healthcare marketing agencies. She also has experience working for a crisis management firm, where she focused on high-stakes branding and communication strategies and spent many years leading marketing and communications efforts in the commercial construction industry. Her diverse background and proven track record in crafting impactful messaging, managing integrated campaigns, and fostering meaningful connections make her an invaluable asset to our mission of advancing vision research advocacy.
