AEVR CO-SPONSORS CONGRESSIONAL BRIEFING ON
LOW VISION AND VISION REHABILITATION
(Washington, D.C.) Today, the Alliance for Eye and Vision Research (AEVR) announced that it is co-sponsoring a Congressional Briefing entitled Low Vision and Vision Rehabilitation: A Growing Need to be held Wednesday, July 14, 2010, from 12 Noon – 1:15 pm in House Rayburn B-340. RSVP to Dina Beaumont at email@example.com.
The briefing, sponsored by Lighthouse International, features Mike Fischer, O.D., Chief of Optometry Service at the Northport Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and Lighthouse President and CEO Mark Ackermann. The speakers will describe how, as the baby boom generation ages, the need for low vision and vision rehabilitation services will reach an all-time high. They will emphasize the potential for these services to assist individuals with vision loss to maximize their remaining vision while reducing significant medical and long-term care costs for those affected, their families, and the federal government.
Joining AEVR in co-sponsoring the event are the American Foundation for the Blind, the American Occupational Therapy Association, the American Optometric Association, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, Envision, Prevent Blindness America, and VisionServe Alliance.
The Alliance for Eye and Vision Research (AEVR), a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation, is proud to announce this program associated with its Decade of Vision 2010-2020 Initiative, a sustained educational effort acknowledged by Congress that recognizes the benefits of federally funded vision research.
